(Sussex, N.B.) The Parrsboro Predator Midget
Girls Hockey Team successfully participated in the Annual Sussex
Female Hockey Tournament on Feb. 8th, 9th and 10th, coming home as
champions for the second year in a row. The defending champs faced
the River Valley Ducks in their first outing pulling off a 5-2 win.
It was a full team effort with goals from Jessica Currie, Brittany
Clarke, Alyson Picard, Jeneil Quinn and Janine Quinn. Brittany White
received the Player of the Game Award for her outstanding
performance in net. The team played the home town Sussex Red Wings
early Saturday morning outscoring thier oponent 8-0. Again, it was a
solid performance by all players, with the defensive partners of
Chelsi Cormier and Jeneil Quinn along with team mates Brittany
Morton and Melanie Morris carrying the team to a shut-out victory.
Jessica Currie scored twice, Brittany Morton scored 2, Brittany
Clarke, Abbey Morris, Alyson Picard and Bailee Cormier all with
single markers. Brittany Morton was the player of the game.

The team then faced the
KV Vipers for their third game of the weekend. With 3:07 left in the
first period Jessica Currie put Parrsboro on the board first,
assisted by Janine Quinn, followed by another goal from Alyson
Picard assisted by Paula Olynch. The teams went scoreless through
the second period and Jessica Currie scored the lone third period
unassisted goal. Jeniel Quinn was chosen player of the game. This
game set the pace for the championship game which was played on
Sunday against the KV Vipers. This game proved to be the toughest
contest yet for the Predators with both teams going scoreless
through the first period. The Vipers goalie was difficult to beat
but Jessica Currie finally put one in at 13 minutes into the second
period. Jeniel Quinn scored the insurance goal 3 minutes into the
3rd period. Jessica Currie received the tournament MVP for her
performance scoring goals in all four games.
